Obituary for Sheila Gaghen (Gum)

Sheila Faye (Gum) Gaghen of Potosi, Missouri was born July 14, 1954 in Anchorage, Alaska, a daughter to the late William H. “Bill” Gum and Barbara Pearl (Bannister) Gum. Sheila departed this life Monday, July 27, 2020 having reached the age of 66 years and 13 days.
On August 8, 1992, Sheila was united in marriage to the late John Edward Gaghen, Jr. and they were blessed with fifteen years and many happy memories together.
Sheila is survived by her sons, Matthew Gaghen and wife Sarah of Steelville, Missouri, Zachary Jacobsen and wife Ashley of Potosi, Missouri; step sons, Joshua Gaghen and wife Melissa of St. Charles, Missouri, Elijah Gaghen and wife Abby of Olathe, Kansas; step daughter, Emily Elsey and husband Adam of St. Louis, Missouri; sister, Tamara “Tammy” Watson and husband Richard of Caledonia, Missouri; brother, William “Mal” Gum and wife Charli of Potosi, Missouri; aunt, Helen Blackwell of Kansas City, Missouri; uncle, Dr. Fred and Alyce Bannister of Chetek, Wisconsin; five grandchildren: Isaac, Bella, Sophia, Blakely, Chesney; six step grandchildren: Grace, Lilly, Ella, Will, Abrahm, Alice and many nieces, nephews, dear and special relatives and friends.
Sheila had a heart of gold and was a genuine friend to all she met. No matter the task, she was there to help. She worked for nineteen years at the Washington County Health Department and shared a close bond with her coworkers. She loved crafting, especially making jewelry and visiting with family and friends. Her grandkids were her pride and joy and loved each of them with her whole heart. Her love and kindness will be greatly missed by all the lives she touched.
